You could do a tribute to John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival. You could do a tribute to the man who made Michael Jackson a star, Quincy Jones! That would trump anyone who did a tribute to Mr. Jackson and you could cover many different styles of music since Quincy Jones had a hand in most of it.

There's always Elvis. Of course you could be really bold and do a tribute to the individual who wrote most of Elvis's biggest hits, Otis Redding!

You could do a tribute to Warren Zevon. Not too many people know who he is anymore, but everyone knows "Werewolves of London! His songs have been covered by everyone from Linda Rondstat to Adam Sandler! (Sandler actually sang Werewolves of London on a tribute album called "Enjoy Every Sandwich) Bands have taken names based on his songs (Lawyers, Guns, and Money) and Movies have borrowed from him freely as well (Things to do in Denver When You're Dead)
You could base your tribute on another song title he was particularly fond of "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead!"

You could do Bono from U2, Bruce Springsteen, (The Boss) Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy, Carlos Santana (especially since he did those duet albums, Eric Clapton, Babyface, Prince (He's not only a star in his own right, he has written songs for the Go GOs (Manic Monday) and Sheena Easton.

Hope this helps.

Something by the Blues Brothers? Big band, lots of possible dancers and some very recognizable figures and songs (that were covers when done by them anyway).
