I think he kinda knew but didn’t like to gloat about it. I read once that he didn’t even like to read the papers if he was in it. He said that if he got bad feedback from like a concert he’d feel bad and if it was good feedback it’d go to his head and he didn’t want to be like that. I don’t know if he knew that he would still be this big but I’m sure he knew he was big back then. Towards the end they had to close off part of his audience because not enough people came. He was probably getting a little depressed about that.
