How do I be approacbale and make contacts at a music festival?

As humans, we decide how approachable someone is based on their facial expression and body language. Try to keep a pleasant facial expression and don’t stand around with your arms folded. Say hello to people and strike up non-threatening conversations by opening with a comment about the festival. “This is great, isn’t it? It’s my first one. Have you been before?”
How are you going to record your contacts? Most people will leave personal calling or business cards behind for a festival. Think ahead so you have something to give them and keep their phone number too.
